Dry July Inspiration

By Jeff Lack on

Let's get you inspired to have a brilliant DJ. Given that you are going to be this good to your mind, body and soul for a whole month and achieve something very special for an amazing charity, how about a reward for all that hard selfless work?! Your skin will be looking top and you may well lose a few pounds, so let's show it off with a cool new outfit.

Managing your wardrobe through weight loss

If you are saving your pennies, take your fave pieces to a tailor and have them adjusted to fit yur changing shape. If you are planning to stay off the booze for a while longer (more han just July) don't buy anything new straight away and give yourself time to settle into your new shape.

It's worthwhile bagging up items in your wardrobe that no longer fit and see if you go looking for them. Chancer are you wil be hppy to have "moved on" from them anyway.

Shopping for your new size (after weight loss)

Get excited folks, as all the hard work pays you dividends in the wardrobe department. If you drop one to two sizes it's a whole new ballgame when it comes to shopping. Show off your new shape by getting your new fit perfect and try contrasting colours for maximum impact. Think about how many cool new clothes you can buy with all the money you have saved from not buying alcohol for one whole month! Why not spoil yourself at the end of the month to mark an incredible effort?

My tips for shopping when you have lost weight

We are creatures of habit and you've just broken a big one. Why not carry this attitude into your shopping and
don't go back to the usual places you purchase from. Boutiques can be daunting especially when you are not familiar with the fits. It's much easier to walk into a change room in one of the major department stores with a
whole bunch of different labels to try. You may be surprised at what actually suits you now. Take the pressure out
of deciding on the spot by taking along a friend or stylist that has an objective outlook. Take your time to make a decision (overnight hold perhaps) and you will achieve a much better result than just rushing in "last minute" to
grab something. New season Spring stock starts arriving late July. Even if you haven't changed size over the month, treat yourself to a nice pair of shoes or a bag.

You have raised money and awareness for a charity, your skin is clear, mind is sharp and your rig is looking good.. Let's celebrate with a couple of killer new pieces... Cheers.

21 Days to Change Your Ways: Just Keep Swimming

By Kirsty Welsh on

Anything great takes time. We look at the best parts of others and compare them to the worst parts of ourselves. Quick fixes, gadgets, ab crunchers, weight-loss shakes, we are suckers for the overnight ‘answers’ to our health issues! No one is healthy and happy without some long-term effort. But the cool thing is, small and realistic changes over time can create massive shifts in our wellbeing! So no matter where you’re at in your health journey, just know that so long as you’re making consistent and positive changes, you’re doing a fab job!

I personally find 21 to be a magic number. It is well known that it takes ’21 days to make or break a habit’ although there doesn’t seem to be any clinical research behind it, but I also find that...

How to Relieve Stress without Booze

By Staff Writer on

Everybody has different methods of dealing with stress. Doing Dry July may be particularly difficult for those who use a drink or two to unwind at the end of the day. Here are some alternative techniques for stress management that don’t include alcohol:

Be Mindful

The buzzword in the mental health world lately is “Mindfulness”. Different mindfulness techniques include focusing on your breathing or other senses in order to clear your mind, doing an Adult Colouring Book (you can find these pretty much anywhere), and of course, meditation. These techniques can be done in no more than 15 minutes, so do them in the office if you have to. The idea is to get all the stressful things off your mind and replace them with calming thoughts,...
