Dry July 2016 is here!
By Dry July on
Dry July is back and you can sign-up now. Go booze-free this July and fundraise to support adults affected by cancer.

When you’re diagnosed with cancer, it’s hard to find the time or energy to think about anything other than treating the cancer. Dry July raises money to ease that burden, reduce stress and add a bit of comfort throughout the cancer journey. We help to provide things that may not be front of mind after a cancer diagnosis; getting to and from an appointment, somewhere to stay near the hospital, Wi-Fi access and mobile phone chargers. We aim to make cancer patients more comfortable and help with the side effects of treatment through services such as complimentary therapies, wig libraries, and massages and by providing comfortable and inviting spaces for them to enjoy while undergoing treatment.
Everything we do is to benefit the cancer patient and their families and carers. We aim to make a difficult time, a little easier for those affected by cancer.
Giving up alcohol for a month is a small sacrifice to make and the good news is – it will benefit you too!
Taking part in Dry July gives you the chance to also focus on yourself – notice your own drinking habits and the value of a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Dry Heroes recognise a multitude of benefits themselves such as increased energy levels, a clearer head and clearer skin! Dry July takes a lighter-hearted approach to raising funds for a serious issue. You don’t often get the chance to raise money for charity by not doing something! It’s a challenge of determination that rewards participants with a great sense of achievement and feeling of wellbeing.

Over 16,700 Australians embarked on their Dry July journey in 2016, giving up alcohol for the month in order to raise funds for adults living with cancer.
So far, their combined efforts have raised $3.59 million, which will be used to ease the burden, reduce stress, and add comfort for those affected by cancer. The way Dry July achieves this is by funding support services such as hospital transport, patient accommodation, free Wi-Fi, and mobile phone chargers. The aim is to help in ways that may not be front of mind following a cancer diagnosis, and in turn hopefully reducing anxiety for patients.

Previously, services such as wellness programs, wig libraries and complementary therapies including meditation and art therapy have been funded...

Okay, so you’ve signed up for Dry July and you’ve shared your profile page with your friends on Facebook. Great work! Some people may have donated. What now?
Well, instead of posting every day begging people to donate, why not try something a little different? Here are just a few things you can do this month to collect donations.
