Dry July Shave Off

By Samii Avdic on

Mark Udovitch, along with the team at the Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre, held their Dry July Shave Off on Friday as their own personal take on the Dry July challenge.

Mark is a radiation therapist at the centre, and was inspired to grow out his hair when one of his patients told him that losing hers was more daunting than losing her breasts to her cancer.

Mark then decided to grow his hair long enough for it to be donated to a wig library for patients, which was done on the 29th July. To showcase the exact hair that he would be donating, Mark decided to create a campaign that would also raise money for Dry July, which involved him impersonating other fellow long-haired celebrities. Jaynie says: “We know that people find it difficult going out to the normal bars and clubs during Dry July so we wanted to provide a really fun option for people to have a great party without the need to have an alcoholic drink. Plus a portion of the ticket price directly benefits Dry July so it’s win/win.”

Jaynie was joined by Sydney Dance Company Studio Class Director, Ramon Doringo, for a fun and fast dance class event full of non-stop action. In the class, attendees followed the teacher’s lead to learn structured combinations in Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop and built...

Mocktail Masterclass

By Dry July on

Dry July was very proud to organize a Mocktail Masterclass at Manta Restaurant, which was hosted by our brilliant ambassador “Fast” Ed Halmagyi.

Ed gave a talk outlining the benefits of completing Dry July, including the benefits to participants, as well as services we fund for our beneficiaries so they can provide support to people affected by cancer. Ed also showed guests how to make beautiful, refreshing mocktails so participants are never short of something wonderful to drink during Dry July this year. Recipes were provided by our wonderful partners SodaStream and Australian Bitters, as well as Ed himself, who made some of his own concoctions.

Dry July would like to say a big thank you to everybody who attended, including ambassadors...
