Your Dry July fundraising means the CoastCanCare Wellness program can continue supporting people affected by cancer

Thank you for participating in the 2021 Dry July Appeal and choosing to support our CoastCanCare Wellness Program.

The last two years have been challenging for many people and for those with cancer in our community having CoastCanCare available to them – either face to face or virtually - has helped “coasties” living with cancer and their families to navigate their treatment and care.

CoastCanCare also empowers, skills and connects people to take control of their own health, wellbeing, happiness and life away from the hospital system – to engage and connect with each other and their community.

Your support makes a positive and tangible difference to the lives of people living with cancer.

Your commitment to Dry July has helped Calvary Mater Newcastle purchase much needed equipment

Thank you for taking on the Dry July challenge and supporting Calvary Mater Newcastle this year. This has enabled the hospital to fund projects and equipment that assist our patients, their families and carers, toward a more comfortable experience during and following their cancer treatment. We are extremely grateful for your fundraising efforts and dedication.

• New assistive equipment and pressure care items for the hospital’s Oncology Loan Pool Equipment.

Your Dry July fundraising means Bendigo Health can run their Cancer Wellness Programs in Bendigo region

Bendigo Health’s Cancer Wellness Program provides treatments such as oncology massage, yoga, meditation & mindfulness, reflexology, music and arts, pet therapy and importantly a highly qualified oncology nurse as our wonderful Cancer Wellness Coordinator – Jenna Sing who connects our patients to the services that best meets their physical and emotional needs.

We continue to receive positive feedback from cancer patients about the benefits of these new wellness services.

Your Dry July fundraising this year means BRICC can continue running their incredible Wellness Centre

The funds raised by participants of Dry July 2021 will help Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer (BRICC) continue to run their incredible wellness centre.

The Centre is a retreat space for patients and carers to utilise both during and post-treatment, completely funded by local people.

The many programs on offer at the Centre are complimentary to all cancer patients from Bacchus Marsh to the SA border, helping provide support for their emotional, social, financial and spiritual needs during their battle with cancer.

Thanks to our 2021 Dry Julyers, Redkite can continue to provide essential support to young people facing cancer

The funds you raised during Dry July allows Redkite to provide essential emotional, practical, and mental health support to young people with cancer and their families from the moment of diagnosis.

You have ensured that Redkite’s caring and professional support team are able to provide counselling, social work support, diagnosis support packs and helpful information to young people and their parents and carers who are facing cancer diagnosis.

Because of you, young people with cancer and their families are supported and they will know that big things are still possible.

Westmead Hospital’s Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre benefits from Dry July Fundraising

Thanks to the incredible fundraising efforts of Dry July participants, Westmead Hospital’s Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre will be undergoing the following facility upgrades to help make a difficult time, a little easier for people affected by cancer:

• New Seating in Clinic Consult Rooms – to replace torn/worn seating

• IPAD/speaker on stand for Video interpreter calls in infusional Therapy Unit x 3 – these will help improve communication with CALD background patients (a high demographic in Western Sydney) during their chemotherapy treatment

• Recliner Bariatric Chair to increase comfort for obese patients

• Tower Fans. Often patients in treatment get febrile/hot and sweaty – these will be effective in keeping these patients...

Your fundraising for Dry July has enabled the Leukaemia Foundation’s Blood Cancer Support Coordinators to continue their amazing work helping the 50 Australians diagnosed with blood cancer each and every day.

These big-hearted heroes are on the front line providing precious relief and guidance to those who need it most when navigating a blood cancer diagnosis.

Your Dry July fundraising this year has helped Cancer Council Australia continue running their 13 11 20 Information and Support Line across every Australian state and territory – an incredible feat that would have been impossible without you.

13 11 20 is there for all Australians, with dedicated teams of health professionals with cancer care experience answering calls from hundreds of Australians every single day. The money you have raised will stay in your state or territory – ensuring that there is local support available for those who need it most.

Funds raised for PCFA will go towards ensuring all men diagnosed have access to a Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse

After being a nurse for more than 17 years, and more recently joining PCFA as General Manager of Telenursing, Bernie is now one of the friendly voices behind the Prostate Cancer Telenursing Service.

With a simple call to 1800 22 00 99, men and families affected by prostate cancer can now connect with a specialist nurse - filling a vital gap now more than ever with isolation being an increased concern throughout COVID-19.

“Being diagnosed and having to navigate the health system can be scary enough but being fully informed and having advice from a prostate cancer specialist nurse can make all the difference."
