The Royal Melbourne Hospital benefits from Dry July 2021 fundraising

Your incredible Dry July fundraising efforts have enabled The Royal Melbourne Hospital to purchase items for:

• Turnco Sence Power Recliners – this will enable head and neck patients to sit comfortably out of bed and encourage them to get moving;

• Axis Health Avalo Treatment Carts – purpose-built trolleys would mean we are more efficient at attending to our cancer patients pathology testing causing less anxiety to our patients and reducing waiting times;

• Head & Neck Post Op Nurture Packages – patients will be able to use products at home to alleviate the side effects of head & neck cancer such as dry mouth, scarring of the face and neck and aid healing of donor sites used for reconstructions;

Dry July fundraising this year means The Alfred can continue to run their wonderful Music Therapy Program

Your fundraising for Dry July has enabled The Alfred Foundation to support programs like our Music Therapy Program.

For several years now the money raised through Dry July has been used to continue the Music Therapy Program here at The Alfred, employing our fantastic and very talented Music Therapist, Lucy. We’d like to thank all of those who stepped up to the challenge of going Dry in July to support our cancer patients in their treatment and recovery.

We are truly grateful for the overwhelming support we received this year. Your Dry July fundraising will go towards improving the experience of patients being treated for cancer at St Vincent’s Hospital.

The St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne Dry July team members did a fantastic job making a sacrifice, while seeking donations through sponsorship from their friends, family and extended networks.

The ONJ Centre can continue to run their incredible Exercise Wellness program thanks to your Dry July fundraising this year

Your fundraising for Dry July has enabled the ONJ Centre to support the continuation of our Exercise Wellness Program and our Clinical Psychology Service.

Every day we hear from patients who have participated in one of the programs, and their comments are always extremely positive.

Lori Crupi was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome in 2016. Lori’s Crupi’s world became one of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and weekly blood transfusions. Unfortunately, Lori’s treatment stopped being effective and she was left with one last option to save her life – a stem cell transplant.

Thanks to Dry July fundraising Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre can create a more comfortable environment for cancer patients

Your fundraising for Dry July has enabled Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre to support Integrated Wellness Manager, Massage Therapy, Newspaper subscriptions, aromatherapy and fans.

The Integrated Oncology Programs Manager oversees the programs that play an integral part in the patients treatment plan by providing supportive therapies that alleviate side effects and improve patient outcomes.

Palliative Care will be providing massage therapy to improve the patient comfort while bringing peace, comfort and compassion to the patients while the Aromatherapy will assist with mood, anxiety, sleep, nausea and pain that cancer patients feel.

Gold Coast Hospital Foundation can purchase a bladder scanner thanks to Dry July fundraising

Your fundraising for Dry July has enabled Gold Coast Hospital Foundation to purchase a bladder scanner that is currently a priority on the Oncology Inpatients Unit Wish List.

Bladder scanners allow nursing staff to scan and assess the amount of urine in the bladder on the spot in real time. Oncology patients require bladder assessments due to unique Cancer treatments that may affect the bladder directly.

Patients suffering urinary retention often caused by, obstruction, disease, infection (common in Oncology patients) can often suffer great amounts of pain. Prompt assessment of the bladder will lead to faster intervention and better patient outcomes including shorter periods of pain crisis.

Your incredible fundraising for Dry July has enabled Chris O’Brien Lifehouse to support young adolescent patients by purchasing:

• much need equipment for the outdoor space and recreation room for our YouCan Centre

• continue our art in health program Arterie

• provide in room complementary therapies like massage and reflexology from the LivingRoom

Flinders Foundation can now fund dietetics and physiotherapy services thanks to Dry July fundraising

Your fundraising for Dry July will enable Flinders Foundation to fund dietetics and physiotherapy services offered through the Cancer Wellness Centre, which is the focal point of a cancer wellness program to help ease the burden of cancer and address many of the unmet needs of patients and their families during and after cancer treatment.

The dietetics and physiotherapy services will provide practical advice and tips for patients and their families on the effective management of diet and exercise, during and after cancer treatment.
