With support from funds raised in Dry July 2026, we aim to transform the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Cancer Care Unit waiting areas into a more welcoming, supportive, and healing environment.
Each year, more than 70,000 patients visit the Cancer Centre, alongside the family members, friends, and carers who support them. Creating a comfortable and uplifting space during this time is essential.
This project will deliver:
A calmer, more welcoming environment
Through artwork, murals, indoor plants, and patient art walls that help soften the clinical setting.
Greater comfort during treatment
With a refreshment station, snack options, device charging facilities, and a blanket warming machine.
A dedicated children’s space
Featuring toys, books, interactive activities, soft furnishings, and take-home activity packs to reduce anxiety.
Connection and community
Through a shared book-swap area for patients and families.
Together, these improvements will create a more compassionate, human-centred environment, supporting the wellbeing of patients, families, and staff, while also lifting the morale of the clinicians who care for them every day.
Support this transformation by signing up and fundraising for Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Dry July 2026 or making a donation today. Every contribution helps create a more comfortable and uplifting experience for those facing cancer.
