Through Dry July 2026, you helped Calvary Mater Newcastle Hospital raise an incredible $19,839, which will support projects designed to improve the comfort, independence and wellbeing of people affected by cancer.
The funds will help expand the hospital’s Oncology Equipment Loan Pool with specialised equipment to support patients with symptom management and quality of life, including at home. They will also help fund music therapy sessions through the Fig Tree program for patients receiving palliative care, providing moments of comfort and connection when they’re needed most.
"Thank you for choosing to support Calvary Mater Newcastle through Dry July. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on the lives of our patients and their families. A cancer diagnosis affects every part of a person’s life, and community support helps us provide care that goes beyond treatment alone.
Thanks to your fundraising efforts, we can offer Music Therapy to patients attending our Fig Tree Program, a weekly support group for people receiving care through our Palliative Care Outreach Service. Music has a unique ability to bring comfort, spark treasured memories, encourage connection and help people express feelings that can be difficult to put into words.
Your support will also help us maintain and expand our Oncology Equipment Loan Pool, ensuring patients have timely access to specialised equipment that improves comfort and helps them remain at home for longer. For many families, having access to this equipment means less stress and more time focused on what matters most.
On behalf of our patients, families, carers and staff, thank you for making this possible."
