Michelle’s Story

Michelle James said choosing Barwon Health’s Andrew Love Cancer Centre and cancer services was a no brainer once she realised her Dry July fundraising could directly support the facility.

Five years ago Michelle was diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Although a Ballarat local, she was introduced to Geelong’s Andrew Love Cancer Centre by her doctor after it was discovered her growths were very large and treatment needed. She was fortunate to be accepted into a Barwon Health cancer clinical trial for two years.

Michelle says the treatment at Andrew Love has been amazing and all the staff she has encountered take a personal interest in you and your care and have your best interested at heart.

“It’s an honour to be a Dry July ambassador and I am super proud to support the amazing health facility that is Andrew Love Cancer Centre. It was a no brainer that I should give back for all the help they have given me.”

Michelle is picture here hiking the 64km Three Capes Walk in Tasmania, something she says she would not have had the capacity to complete without the medical intervention by the team at Barwon Health.
