My brother and littlest niece are visiting from Perth later this week. A timeline memory post this morning reminded me they were here during Dry July 3 years ago, too. And like back then, I'll be toasting their arrival with a Heaps Normal. 🍻

Memories from my first Dry July in 2013. I've had "tough" first weekends of July over the years, craving a drink. But like that distant night when I watched Superman II with my then 11-year-old son and his sleepover pal, I'm not missing my regular beer or red this year. 🚫🍺🍷

I cheer, cheered the red and the white Sydney Swans onwards to victory at the SCG last night. And thanks to Dry July, I didn't have to worry about queuing for a beer! ❤️🤍

Inspired by our cause and my Dry July t-shirt, instead of beer or wine with dinner last night, I had a nice cup of tea in my favourite "Dad & Me" mug (a chipped and handleless primary school Father's Day stall present from my now adult son!). ❤️

I'll be back at the SCG tomorrow, cheer-cheering the Swannies to victory over the Bulldogs (hopefully!), and toasting them with my Dry July coffee! ❤️🤍☕

Day 1 of my 13th year of Dry July since my first in 2013 (with a sabbatical in 2019 for a Top End family wedding and campervan tour). Fittingly, this 2013 post popped up in my Facebook timeline memories today: "Sipping cranberry and pomegranate tea instead of a glass of red. Day 1 of Dry July done, easy!" 13 years on, and my cupboard is still full of teas to help me through Dry July! 🫖🍵
