Celebrated my 3rd week of Dry July with a tasty Guinness 0.0 last night! 😋

$52.95 from Robert Fairhead

3 weeks dry and only 1 week and 4 days to go! But who's counting? 😉

Status Update

I celebrated Week 3 of Dry July a day early in 2023 and donated to myself to claim my "$500 Raised" badge. My fundraising target back then was $1000. I think we're all finding it harder to "pester" family and friends for donations this year, so I've set a more modest target of $500. However, I'm currently sitting on just under $435, and after donating to myself tomorrow for surviving Week 3 (I always toast another dry week with a celebratory donation!), I'll have almost achieved my 2026 target. So, it looks like with more "pestering" and personal donations, I'll be increasing it again! Maybe $750. Or another $1000? 😉

Status Update

Hmm, I suspect this 2013 Dry Times tax return tip from the Dry July team won't see the light of day again for Week 3 this year! 😂

Status Update

5 years ago, a friend found a Dry July loophole for me. However, I replied I'd stick to Heaps Normal and other non-alcoholic drinks for the rest of July. As I will again this year! 😉🍻

Status Update

The range of non-alcoholic beers and other beverages has broadened over the years since my first Dry July in 2013. But sadly, I haven't come across Heaps Normal's tasty Coffee Run Stout since I enjoyed a drop with my non-Dry Julyer son in 2023.

Status Update

Memories of my first Dry July in 2013, when I raised $210 and ABC Sydney Radio's Richard Glover and Adam Spencer raised $80,000 between them! I'm proud to say that in the 13 years since then, thanks to generous family and friends, I've set and met higher fundraising targets. Combined with this year's donations to date, I've raised over $8,000. Okay, it's not $80,000, but we're only midway through Dry July! 🤞

$63.50 from Julie & Tom

We are proud to support you Robert. You showed dedication to stay dry when the Swans crashed in WA

Thanks, Julie & Tom. Yes, it was a tough evening, but besides Dry July, I was also the Uncle Robert Taxi Service that night, so I had to stay dry (even if my niece sang the Dockers song in the back seat!).

Status Update

A reminder from 2024 that midday today is the midway point of my Dry July challenge. I was just over halfway to achieving my then fundraising target of $500, and I pledged to raise my target if I got enough donations. In the end, I raised $1300 in 2024. This year, I've set a similar $500 target, and I'm over halfway to achieving it. Who knows, with more generous donations, I may crack $1000 again to support people affected by cancer. 🤞
