I'm taking part in Dry July this year for my nephew Kobe Bowyer, whose best mate Alex has incurable brain cancer. He's 20. No life should be cut short by cancer, but it stings a little more when it's a young person with a life of possibilities in front of them.
Seeing Kobe by Alex's side this month, through all of the ups and downs, operations and heartache, has made me incredibly proud. For those who know me, I am the event professional who has the wonderful perk of tasting the best grapes and grains around the world. And I love the "social lubricant". This month is no less busy- there's a conference bid in South Korea next week, the family trip to the Gold Coast next weekend to watch my nephew (and Kobe's brother) Cambel run the marathon, the ICMSA team in Geelong for our Company Conference and 60th Anniversary celebrations, my book club that happens to be held at our local pub each month, international client visit in Sydney, lunches and dinners! But I'm determined. For Alex and Kobe.

Status Update |
I’m one week dry! No small feat when you take into account I’ve been in Korea where we won a big event for Melbourne (no Penfolds for me!), my nephew Cambel successfully ran the Gold Coast Marathon (no family champagne there!) and lastly on Tuesday night I hosted a full Company Conference dinner to celebrate ICMSA 60 years at the Geelong GMHBA Stadium (lemon lime and bitters the whole way!).
