When 44-year-old Sarah discovered a lump, she immediately had a gut instinct something wasn’t right. After multiple mammograms, ultrasounds, and biopsies on several different cysts, a lump was discovered that hadn’t been found in the original tests, which was invasive carcinoma.
Sarah quickly learned that no two people react to breast cancer treatments the same, so after suffering severe anaphylactic reactions in surgery, whilst navigating her diagnosis through COVID-19, her McGrath Breast Care nurse, also named Sarah, couldn’t have come into her life at a better time.

"Every year I have always wanted to do it and I have always found reasons not to - traveling, parties, etc. But this year, the reasons TO do it far outweighed the reasons NOT to. My mum has always been strong and resilient, but this year she has really been put to the test. My Aunty and my uncle are also doing dry July for OCA, so it’s become a bit of a family affair!"

TIBAH’S FAMILY GO DRY IN JULY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE PA
Gary and Melissa O'Brien are currently going without alcohol for a whole month to raise funds to help cancer patients being treated at the PA Hospital (PAH) - one of whom is their 19-year-old son Tibah.
The Morningside based parents are undertaking Dry July this year to raise funds for the PA's cancer ward where Tibah is currently being treated for testicular cancer.

Gillian decided to participate in Dry July this year in response to a fundraising call for Solaris Cancer Care.
“The funding we received in the past from the Dry July Foundation is shared across our centres. Last year, the Albany centre received a much needed computer upgrade” she said.
