The incredible $71,916 raised for Rare Cancers Australia through Dry July 2026 will help provide vital support and community for people affected by rare, less common and complex cancers.  

Rare Cancers Australia’s Peer Support Program will be supported through the funds raised, bringing patients and carers together through diagnosis-specific online groups facilitated by Specialist Cancer Navigators. These connections will help reduce isolation and provide trusted information, guidance and understanding to people who may otherwise struggle to find someone who shares their experience.

"Receiving a rare cancer diagnosis can be incredibly lonely. When you’re one of maybe only a handful of people around the country to share a similar diagnosis, it can be hard to find other people who understand what you’re experiencing.

That’s why peer support is such an important part of our program. We’ve seen the development of some incredibly special friendships that have started through one of our support groups or an introduction we’ve been able to make between people with a similar diagnosis.

These connections provide comfort, understanding, and a sense of belonging during an incredibly challenging time, making a profound difference to people living with rare cancer."
