As July approaches, I’m gearing up for a challenge that’s both deeply personal and meaningful. This commitment to abstain from alcohol isn’t just about going sober; it’s a chance to raise funds for Lymphoma Australia and honor my dad, who bravely fought lymphoma.

Dad never let his illness define him. Witnessing his strength and resilience during his illness compelled me to not only support the cause but also raise awareness about the importance of research and support for those affected by this disease. By participating in Dry July, I hope to contribute to vital funding for Lymphoma Australia, ensuring that others can benefit from improved treatments and support systems. Beyond fundraising, this challenge is also a journey of self-discovery. Recent times have made me realise that it can be easy to turn to booze as a coping mechanism to navigate life’s challenges, but I’ve come to understand that this isn’t a sustainable solution.

I successfully kicked booze for 10 years. That experience taught me the strength I possess and how much better I felt without it before regrettably letting it creep back in during those dreaded Covid years. I’m determined to rediscover that strength and reclaim my wellbeing.
