My motivation for taking part in Dry July is deeply personal. My dad was diagnosed with Kaposi sarcoma in 2024, and seeing him go through cancer has shown me how challenging the journey can be for both of us and family.

Kaposi sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that develops in the cells lining blood vessels and lymph vessels. It can cause lesions on the skin and may also affect internal organs. Treatment often involves chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or other therapies depending on how advanced the cancer is.

By participating in Dry July, I'm giving up alcohol for the month to raise money and awareness for people affected by cancer. I hope my efforts can help provide comfort, support services, and better care for patients and families who are facing challenges like my dad has. This is my way of honouring his strength and contributing to a cause that means so much to me.
