At just 29 years old, Emily's twin sister, Christina, was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer after months of symptoms that had been attributed to IBS and other women's health issues.

Emily knew something wasn't right and encouraged Christina to keep seeking answers. Sadly, by the time the cancer was discovered, it had already progressed significantly. Despite undergoing extensive treatment, Christina passed away just one year later.

Christina's story is a powerful reminder that bowel cancer doesn't only affect older people. Cases among younger Australians are increasing, and symptoms such as ongoing stomach pain, changes in bowel habits, fatigue, or persistent bloating can sometimes be overlooked or dismissed.

Since Christina's diagnosis, Emily has participated in Dry July every year in her sister's memory. This year marks her ninth year taking part, and if she reaches her fundraising goal, she will have raised more than $40,000 to support Australians impacted by cancer.
