This year I’m doing Dry July, and it’s for a reason that’s incredibly close to my heart.
In honour of a family member who is bravely battling cancer and watching them face this journey with so much strength, courage and resilience has changed my perspective on so many things. Watching someone you love go through something so painful changes you forever, and no family is ever truly prepared for the emotional toll cancer brings.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt is just how precious life really is. We get so caught up in the rush of everyday life that we often forget how fragile it can be. Cancer has a way of putting everything into perspective. It reminds us that life is short, time is priceless, and the moments we share with the people we love should never be taken for granted. While giving up alcohol for a month is a small sacrifice, it’s something I can do to honour of her and show my support, and help raise funds for those others affected by cancer.
Cancer doesn’t just impact the person diagnosed.. it affects their family, friends, and everyone who loves them. Seeing this battle up close has been heartbreaking, but it’s also shown me the incredible strength of the human spirit and the importance of cherishing every moment we have.
If you’re able to, I’d be so grateful for your support. Whether that’s through a donation, sharing my fundraiser, or simply encouraging me throughout the month, every bit of support means the world.
Life is precious. Life is short. And if this challenge can help make even the smallest difference for those facing cancer, then it’s absolutely worth it 🤍💫
