Status Update

Over the past year, with the help of funds raised through the Dry July campaign, we have been able to increase our art therapy program. Along with having the art therapy class for patients, we now have art therapy in the waiting room for those who are waiting for appointments as well as art therapy in the chemotherapy unit.

Art therapy involves the use of creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, colouring, or sculpting to help people express their inner experiences, develop awareness and support personal change. This can help patients cope with difficulties and stress, and speed up the recovery process. The art therapist offers a safe, supported holding space to allow a person to process difficult emotional issues.

With funds raised during the 2019 Dry July campaign, we would like to continue to run our programs but also look at how we can broaden the reach of our programs for patients in the inpatient setting and chemotherapy unit.
