Thanks to the incredible fundraising efforts of our Dry July participants every year, the Dry July Foundation is able to help local and national cancer support organisations across Australia deliver practical, tangible support services for people affected by cancer.

Everything we fund is to benefit cancer patients, their families and carers, aiming to make a difficult time, a little easier for people affected by cancer.

The ONJ Centre can continue to run their incredible Exercise Wellness program thanks to your Dry July fundraising this year

Your fundraising for Dry July has enabled the ONJ Centre to support the continuation of our Exercise Wellness Program and our Clinical Psychology Service.

Every day we hear from patients who have participated in one of the programs, and their comments are always extremely positive.

Lori Crupi was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome in 2016. Lori’s Crupi’s world became one of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and weekly blood transfusions. Unfortunately, Lori’s treatment stopped being effective and she was left with one last option to save her life – a stem cell transplant.

We are thrilled to let you know that your incredible efforts contributed towards $87,260 being raised to help fund our confidence-boosting program; aiming to teach cancer patients how to manage the appearance-related side-effects caused by treatment for any type of cancer.

Thanks to Dry July fundraising Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre can create a more comfortable environment for cancer patients

Your fundraising for Dry July has enabled Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre to support Integrated Wellness Manager, Massage Therapy, Newspaper subscriptions, aromatherapy and fans.

The Integrated Oncology Programs Manager oversees the programs that play an integral part in the patients treatment plan by providing supportive therapies that alleviate side effects and improve patient outcomes.

Palliative Care will be providing massage therapy to improve the patient comfort while bringing peace, comfort and compassion to the patients while the Aromatherapy will assist with mood, anxiety, sleep, nausea and pain that cancer patients feel.

Gold Coast Hospital Foundation can purchase a bladder scanner thanks to Dry July fundraising

Your fundraising for Dry July has enabled Gold Coast Hospital Foundation to purchase a bladder scanner that is currently a priority on the Oncology Inpatients Unit Wish List.

Bladder scanners allow nursing staff to scan and assess the amount of urine in the bladder on the spot in real time. Oncology patients require bladder assessments due to unique Cancer treatments that may affect the bladder directly.

Patients suffering urinary retention often caused by, obstruction, disease, infection (common in Oncology patients) can often suffer great amounts of pain. Prompt assessment of the bladder will lead to faster intervention and better patient outcomes including shorter periods of pain crisis.

Your Dry July fundraising means Chris O'Brien Lifehouse can fund multiple projects and purchase much needed equipment

Your incredible fundraising for Dry July has enabled Chris O’Brien Lifehouse to support young adolescent patients by purchasing:

• much need equipment for the outdoor space and recreation room for our YouCan Centre

• continue our art in health program Arterie

• provide in room complementary therapies like massage and reflexology from the LivingRoom

• fund our palliative care program so all patients and their families are supported throughout their cancer journey.

Flinders Foundation can now fund dietetics and physiotherapy services thanks to Dry July fundraising

Your fundraising for Dry July will enable Flinders Foundation to fund dietetics and physiotherapy services offered through the Cancer Wellness Centre, which is the focal point of a cancer wellness program to help ease the burden of cancer and address many of the unmet needs of patients and their families during and after cancer treatment.

The dietetics and physiotherapy services will provide practical advice and tips for patients and their families on the effective management of diet and exercise, during and after cancer treatment.

Your fundraising for Dry July has enabled our Foundation to fund the following projects to better support Australians diagnosed with upper gastrointestinal cancers:

• Understanding your cancer diagnosis video series

• Expansion of Upper GI Cancer Specialist Nurse Service

• Upper GI Cancer Care KITs

These new initiatives, combined with Pancare Foundation’s PanSupport Service, helps ensure patients, carers and their families are supported through their cancer journey. Through our programs and resources we address physical, psychological, social, and emotional needs of patients living with pancreatic, stomach, liver, biliary and oesophageal cancers.

Dry July fundraising helps Bowel Cancer Australia employ Australia's first dedicated Bowel Cancer Care Oncology Social Worker

Your fundraising for Dry July will enable Bowel Cancer Australia to expand the charity’s Bowel Care Nurse and Bowel Care Nutritionist programs, and to employ Australia's first dedicated Bowel Cancer Care Oncology Social Worker.

During the height of the pandemic last year, Bowel Cancer Australia received a 68% spike in enquiries to our free Helpline. Described as lifeline, these vital Bowel Care Nurse and Nutritionist services are needed now more now than ever.

Your incredible Dry July fundraising means the PA Hospital can fund their very own First Nations Cancer Nurse Navigator

Your fundraising for Dry July 2021 will enable the Princess Alexandra Hospital help to fund a First Nations Cancer Nurse Navigator to provide clinical care, support and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with cancer who receive their cancer care at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The implementation of this program will help patients improve their health literacy to navigate the healthcare system while addressing their cultural and spiritual needs - the overall objective of this project is to improve cancer outcomes for First Nations Australians.
