Host a Mocktail Night this Dry July

A Mocktail Party is a great opportunity for team members to get to know each other, or a great excuse to catch up with mates during Dry July. Most importantly, it's the perfect opportunity to raise funds to support people living with cancer.

Why not host your Mocktail Party as an alternative to Friday night drinks at work or on a Saturday night with friends?

Here’s how to host a successful mocktail night:

  1. Send an invitation - Download here
This could be through an office-wide email if it’s a work event (don’t forget to put up posters as well), or through email or by setting up a Facebook event for friends. Let everyone know that gold coin donations are required (or more!), and where the money will be going.
  2. Prepare a list of mocktails that will be available on the night, we’ve got plenty of Lyre's Non-Alcoholic Cocktail recipes for you on our Wellbeing site.
  3. Make a shopping list for your event and go shopping! Things you might need include mocktail supplies, napkins, decorations, finger food etc.
  4. If providing food, go for finger foods or anything that can be held in one hand – think sliders, canapes, pizza slices (ask for square cut), finger sandwiches, cheese platter, fruit, and chips & dip.
  5. Send a reminder to all your guests before the event – remind them about the donation and where there donations will be going. Include a link to your Dry July profile page so if they can’t make it they can still support your Dry July.
  6. On the night:
    1. Put up some decorations. Use our Bunting as a fun way to decorate the space
    2. Get a money box to collect everyone’s donations
    3. Welcome everyone and talk to them about your Dry July
    4. Take plenty of photos and upload them on social media, hashtag #dryjuly so we can see what a great night you had!

The success of your event depends on you as a host, so create a relaxing atmosphere by dimming the lights, playing music and providing some games/entertainment, such as trivia. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the mocktails!
