Wollongong Hospital Programs and Projects

The Illawarra Cancer Care Centre at Wollongong Hospital has used Dry July funds for a myriad of projects over the last several years. This year the centre intends to introduce a range of complementary therapy supports for adult cancer patients. Initial programs will include relaxation classes, yoga and exercise classes and traditional Chinese medicine. These initiatives will build and promote patient survivorship and healthy living during and after a cancer diagnosis.

Funds will also enhance the fit-out of a patient area in radiation oncology to provide an additional quiet room. The quiet room is intended to be a private, quiet area of retreat for cancer patients, family and carers in time of need. The centre aims to install a luminous sky ceiling to transform the enclosed internal area to a more spacious feeling for people using this room. In addition it will provide comfortable tub style chairs, lounge and side table to complete the finished product.
