Look Good Feel Better is a free, national community service program, run by the Cancer Patients Foundation. The program has been designed to help cancer patients manage the appearance-related side-effects caused by any type of treatment for any type of cancer.

Since the first workshop in Sydney in May 1990, more than 170,000 women, men and teens undergoing cancer treatment across Australia have benefitted from participating in the program.

All services offered as part of the Look Good Feel Better program have been developed with the purpose of empowering those undergoing cancer treatment by equipping them with the practical skills and knowledge needed to face their cancer diagnosis with confidence. Each year we deliver 1,000 Face-to-Face workshops in 180 communities across the country, host 200 Virtual Workshops, and provide 2,000 Home Delivered Confidence Kits, supporting over 10,000 people.
The Look Good Feel Better program relies on the support of 1,000 trained cosmetic, beauty and hairdressing professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to help deliver the workshops across Australia.

The Cancer Patients Foundation, responsible for running the Look Good Feel Better program, is an independent not-for-profit organisation, not affiliated with any other cancer charity or support service. With no government funding, the Cancer Patients Foundation relies on the generosity of corporate and community supporters to allow for the Look Good Feel Better program to be provided to cancer patients free-of-charge.

25 Additional Workshops Across Australia

The Dry July Foundation was pleased to award a grant to the Cancer Patients Foundation and Look Good Feel Better in 2015.

The funds are being used to offer 5 additional Look Good Feel Better Workshops in NSW, QLD, SA, VIC and WA, particularly in regional areas.

Past workshop participants have said of the program:

“As I face the imminent loss of my hair, for most of my life worn long and, so, such a visible and intrinsic part of my femininity, I now feel I can literally ‘put on my happy face’ for the world. So armed, rather than be an object of pity (no hair, cancer victim, poor thing, so sad) with my new make-up, stylish wig and other glamorous head accessories, I can instead visually and powerfully proclaim my warrior stance in my battle against this most insidious disease.”

Catherine, LGFB participant

“I went with trepidation but my doctor said ‘it would be right mate’ and it was… It is sometimes hard for us chaps to speak about our personal needs but you made it practical and common sense.”

Jeremy, LGFB participant
