She started as a cadet journalist in the newsroom at FIVEaa in 1990, becoming a graded journalist a year later.
Sonya's roles covered many different areas, including court and parliament reporting and more than 3 years presenting breakfast news.
Late in 1993, she branched into a new area, taking the co-host's chair on the FIVEaa breakfast shift alongside radio veteran Ken Dickin.
Soon after, the pair was moved to the Morning show, a mix of current affairs, magazine-style stories, regulars and fun.
"Ken and Sonya" was a successful partnership that lasted five years and two radio stations, the show moving to the old 5DN in 1997.
After 18 months presenting her own Morning show on 5DN, Sonya returned to the newsroom, preparing and presenting news on the old 5AD-FM, now Mix102.3.
In late 2007, she saw the light and headed to Aunty, to join Matt and Dave's team as a producer.
After two years producing mornings, Sonya was made the new 891 Drive presenter for 2010 onwards.
