Matt Saraceni

"I did Dry July for the first time last year. It's usually a dark day when I am out on a Saturday night with a beer in my hand- so I'm here again to prove you can be fun, social and sober! Also last year I lost 5kgs in a month when I cut out the booze! Its a great cause and having had my life personally affected by the big c-bomb I'll do what I can to help raise awareness of the charity."

Bio

Matt is a radio broadcaster, comedian and all-round nice guy.

Born and raised in Perth, he tactfully avoided being a lawyer through stand up comedy with the Big Hoo Ha improvised comedy group. His first gig in radio was driving the Nova cars around giving out vouchers to the local rollerblading rink.

He then packed his bags and moved to Melbourne, managed to convince his best friend, Dan Debuf, into an unpaid late night radio gig for Nova 100, because Matt needed the company and Dan needed the money (Matt didn't tell him it was unpaid).

The pair then hosted the nights show together in Perth, hurriedly finished their law degrees then were shipped off to Sydney to host the national nights show, "The Action Battle Team" weeknights from 7pm across the Nova network. Now working with former MTV presenter Maz Compton the show was heard in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. The trio currently host the Adelaide Breakfast show for Nova 919.

Frustrated by the illegality of swearing on-air, he banded with his co-host Dan Debuf, former roommate Luke Ryan and Triple J flaneur Paul Verhoeven to create the sketch comedy podcast "The Lords of Luxury" that critics have described as "too long" and "successfully uploaded to iTunes!" Upon debut, the podcast climaxed at number 2 on the iTunes charts. In 2011 the podcast was brought alive onstage at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

He is well known for his hard-working, go-getter attitude and the slightly emasculating ocean-blue scooter he rides to work.
