Facilities

The inpatient unit at Wollongong treated 1182 patients in the 2009/10 financial year. In the current year 2010/11, 801 patients have been treated year to date. This trend would lead to a predicted total number of treated patients for the 2010/11 to be approximately 1300.

Outpatient departments treat patients from the entire Cancer Network. In 2011 it is estimated that 748 patients will be treated with chemotherapy, 7482 patients will be treated in the Outpatient services. The total number of outpatient clinic attendances for Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology and Haematology is estimated at 10,361 patients for 2011.

About

The Illawarra Cancer Care Centre is a major hub in the ISLHN. It integrates with outreach or spoke services in the Shoalhaven Region and the Milton Ulladulla Hospital. To the north the ICCC links with the metropolitan cancer services based at St George and Prince of Wales Hospitals. Clinical services are networked between all Illawarra Hospitals and the Shoalhaven.

It is estimated that in 2011 the Radiation Oncology Department will treat 976 patients and provide 18,586 individual radiotherapy treatments.
